The Baltimore Ravens have a handful of pending free agents this summer, including linebacker Patrick Queen. Several AFC teams have been mentioned as prospective new homes for the LSU product, who will begin his sixth season.

These speculations have featured the Houston Texans.
As the so-called “legal tampering period” began on Monday, running backs were flying off the market as clubs negotiated deals to sign players after free agency began on Wednesday.

ESPN Texans reporter DJ Bien-Aime wrote on X, “Texans are in the running for former #Ravens LB Patrick Queen, but I’m hearing people around Queen aren’t sure #Texans can come up with the money to land him.” “We will see what happens.”

ESPN reported last week that there was “some interest between the two parties.”

ESPN reported that the Texans want to keep linebacker Blake Cashman, the team’s leading tackler last season. he said, “his cost could be more than what the Texans are willing to spend–especially if no deal is in place before the negotiating period opens.”

The Ravens declined Queen’s fifth-year option prior to last season, and the former Tiger enjoyed a breakout year.

Queen does have a connection to the Texans because he played opposite Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. at LSU, where the two won a national title together in 2019.

According to Spotrac.com, Queen’s contract is anticipated to be worth $92.6 million over five years. Queen’s rookie contract was a four-year, $12.1 million agreement.

Queen had a career-high 133 tackles, nine for loss, six quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, one interception, six passes broken up, and one forced fumble in 17 starts for Baltimore last season. His loss would be significant for the Ravens.
