Austin — Jett Bush, a Texas Longhorns linebacker, was not among the 11 ‘Horns taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, although he has already signed as an undrafted free agent.

The official Texas football account on Twitter (X) reported that Bush has signed a UDFA contract with the New England Patriots. He will now have the opportunity to show himself to the coaching staff throughout training camp with the hopes of making the 53-man roster.

Bush spent all five of his college seasons with Texas. The Houston native had his best season yet, tying his career high of 17 total tackles, two sacks, and a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown.

If Bush makes New England’s 53-man roster, he’ll have the opportunity to learn under first-year head coach Jerod Mayo, who is taking over for the renowned Bill Belichick.

Bush played two seasons at Texas alongside Patriots safety Brenden Schooler in 2020 and 2021. The two will now reconvene during New England’s offseason program.
