Breaking: Wildcats lands five-star player over other colleges

Kentucky lands a four-star RB recruit over other prominent colleges.
It’s a significant recruitment victory for Kentucky. There is no dispute about that.

Despite facing heavy opposition from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Notre Dame, the Wildcats have earned the commitment of four-star running back Marquise Davis.

Davis, who is 6-foot, 210 pounds, is regarded as the No. 11 running back in the 2025 class, so he’s unquestionably a gamer.

Davis, from Cleveland, Ohio, is now one of Kentucky’s top 2025 recruits, according to head coach Mark Stoops. He’s also Kentucky’s second running back commitment this cycle, following fellow four-star Isaiah West.

Davis does not appear to be concerned about the competition, as he is pleased with how the Wildcats produce running backs.

“What draws me to Kentucky is the opportunity it provides and how they prepare their running backs for success,” Davis recently told Kentucky Sports Radio. “The way they use their running backs in all aspects, it’s just like the NFL.”

To Davis’ point, former Kentucky running back Ray Davis was recently drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. Stoops has also sent running backs to the NFL, including Benny Snell Jr. in 2019 and Chris Rodriguez Jr. in 2023.

Though Davis is already committed to Kentucky, it’s worth mentioning that he has official visits planned for Michigan, Ohio State, and Tennessee in June. He is also planned to make an official visit to Kentucky in June, but it would be fascinating to see if those additional visits are still scheduled now that he has committed to the Wildcats.
