Report: Chiefs set to sign Bengals key man to replace Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs Sign Former No. 2 Overall Pick to Backup Patrick Mahomes.
The veteran is reportedly signing a one-year agreement.

Cincy — The Chiefs are Bengals’ main rivals. They will have a new quarterback by 2024.

No, Patrick Mahomes isn’t leaving, but Kansas City is signing former No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz to a one-year deal, according to Jordan Schultz.

Wentz was selected second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. Over the past three seasons, he’s moved around the league, starting games for Indianapolis and Washington before settling in Los Angeles last season.

He made one start for the Rams and will now join Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

Cincinnati Bengals’ rival is still hoping to sign Tyler Boyd.
The veteran is now a free agent for the first time in his career.

Cincinnati — The Steelers are interested in former Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd, although he is still a free agent.

Boyd, a Pittsburgh native, played the first eight seasons of his career in Cincinnati. It appears like money is the only thing delaying a possible homecoming.
“They’re trying to wait out Tyler Boyd,” Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette explained on 93.7 The Fan. “I’m not sure how that will play out here. I know he wants to get paid more than what they are offering him.

Combine that with reports that there are mixed views inside the Steelers organization about signing the 29-year-old, and Boyd’s future remains uncertain.

Boyd has 6,000 receiving yards, which ranks eighth all-time for the Bengals. The Steelers traded Diontae Johnson to the Panthers but signed Van Jefferson as a free agent. Boyd would provide another proven wideout for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Boyd is now a free agent for the first time in his career. The Bengals are not likely to re-sign him. The 29-year-old might also join the Raiders or Chiefs.
