Report: West brom closing deal to land Phillips replacement

West Brom may recruit Matheus Pereira 2.0 for £0. Phillips replacement
With this acquisition, West Bromwich Albion may finally have a player in the mold of Matheus Pereira.

West Bromwich Albion will strive to delight and excite fans next season after a poor Championship season that ended with play-off sorrow, losing to Southampton over two legs 3-1 in a bland series of matches.
Grady Diangana, who can be a tricky attacker when on form, receded into the background in the Baggies’ disastrous second-leg defeat at St. Mary’s, with only one off-target shot in the game as the club disintegrated on the South Coast.

That could result in more flair players appearing at the Hawthorns to get fans back out of their seats, especially now that Matt Phillips has been released.

This prospective new signing may even go back in time and become West Brom’s next Matheus Pereira, who starred for the Baggies in the second tier before leaving England for the big riches of Saudi Arabia in 2021.
West Brom have linked with their next Pereira.
According to football journalist Darren Witcoop on social media, West Brom are interested in signing recently released Leeds United winger Ian Poveda, who has been praised throughout his EFL career for being a slick attacker on his day.

That might spark a furious race to turn the new free agent into a star after being discarded at Elland Road, with Luton Town and Cardiff City interested, as well as his most recent loan club Sheffield Wednesday.

Dazzling in patches for Danny Rohl’s Owls, Poveda requires a clean slate to truly showcase his showboating abilities, which could come at the Hawthorns given how much Pereira thrived for the West Midlands outfit in such a short period of time.
