Breaking: Sabres closing in on talks as favorites to sign 6′0″ , 199 lb top defenceman

The Florida Panthers are just four wins away from capturing the Stanley Cup. The Buffalo Sabres may be interested in signing some of their potential opponents, who have yet to be revealed. Brandon Montour is the player I’d most like to see in a Sabres uniform.

Brandon is well-known among Sabres supporters, having played with the club from 2019 to 2021. During those time, Montour scored 13 goals and assisted 29 times. Brandon has put up impressive stats since being traded to the Panthers.

This season, he had 8 goals and 25 assists in 66 games. Montour did miss part of the season due to an injury, but he is a key reason why Florida is in the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight year. Throughout the playoffs, he had three goals and six assists.

Why is he the person I want Buffalo to target? First and foremost, the Sabres need to improve their blue line, and Montour would be an excellent addition. I know things didn’t go well his first time around with the blue and gold, but with the current core, he’d be an excellent fit.

He’s only 30 years old and isn’t afraid to play with a cruel streak. Montour scored more than ten goals in both the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons. The defenceman is also a right-handed shooter, which Buffalo requires.

Although it would be ideal for the Sabres to acquire Sam Reinhart, this is unlikely to happen. Brandon, I’m not sure if that’s doable. However, I chose him since he plays a position where Buffalo can develop.

He had a respectable cap hit of $3,500,000 this season, which Buffalo could afford. The next team we’ll look at is the Los Angeles Kings.
