Breaking: Rivals QB commit set to flip and join the Gators

The Gators are still getting a QB target committed elsewhere to their campus this year

The Florida Gators are considering Tramell Jones Jr., a three-star quarterback from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin, for their 2025 recruiting class. He has been committed to Florida State since April of last year, but the school has hosted him three times this year and has not given up on him yet. His verbal commitment elsewhere remains intact, but he hasn’t entirely abandoned them yet. Jones visited The Swamp on Thursday to watch the team participate in their summer practices.

“Just got to watch the camaraderie between the team,” he told 247Sports Tom Loy at the Elite 11 Finals of what brought him back to UF’s campus. “OTA’s, player ran workouts. See how they go through things in the summer.”

Head coach Billy Napier and offensive analyst Ryan O’Hara have been the two coaches at UF leading the charge. He got time around both of them this past week, and the message has been there is still a chance to come and compete despite adding the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the 2024 class. Florida has made attempts to get Jones in town for an official visit, but nothing has ever gotten locked in on that front.
