Sad news: Maple leafs key man out of the season

Treliving, who is concerned about injuries, expects Kunies of the Maple Leafs to play on Saturday.
Rookie winger Matthew Nice will be sidelined after being ejected from the Maple Leafs’ game against the Boston Bruins on Thursday following a collision with Brad Marchand.
“Matt’s doing great,” Leafs general manager Brad Treliving said Friday.
“We’ve reached out to him.

All signs point to Matt doing very well and we’ll continue to see what happens from here.
But we know he’s fine and (Saturday) Kunis rested his upper body after colliding with Marchand in the first period.
Since neither player had the puck, no penalty was awarded.
“While it wasn’t necessarily in accordance with protocol, we felt it was best to keep him out for the remainder of the game as a precaution,” Treliving said.
“Matt wanted to play.
” Treliving confirmed the Leafs’ paper deal that sent Knies to the Toronto Marlies.
“I try to be as flexible as possible on the track so you don’t know what’s going to happen if you get injured,” Treliving said.

“Matthew isn’t going anywhere.
