Report: Saints closing deal to sign Oregon star

Former Oregon Ducks player Shane Lemieux has signed with the New Orleans Saints.
Shane Lemieux hopes to resume his career in 2024 after three injury-plagued seasons.

The former Oregon Ducks offensive tackle signed with the New Orleans Saints, who revealed the deal last week. The Saints did not reveal financial information. According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN, Lemieux signed a one-year contract at $1.06 million, the veteran minimum.
After starting 12 games as a rookie at left guard for the New York Giants in 2020, Lemieux has missed the past three seasons due to injury.

Lemieux sustained a patella tendon injury, limiting him to one game in 2021. A toe ailment prompted him to miss 16 games in 2022, and he suffered a season-ending torn biceps after just four games last season.

Lemieux stated he’s healthy and ready for training camp.

“It was tough coming back from that,” Lemieux told saints.com. “I’m in good health presently. I’ve worked my buttocks off and am ready to depart.

“I try not to discuss the past. Only worry about today and getting healthy.”

In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Giants selected Lemieux with a fifth-round pick (150th overall). He spent his first four seasons with the Giants, appearing in 18 games (12 starts) from 2020 to 2023.
