Report: Crystal Palace give their star man go ahead to join dream team

Serie A Side Considers Crystal Palace Star Amid ‘Farewell Promise’ Claim
Crystal Palace has issued a ‘farewell promise’ to striker Jean-Philippe Mateta in the event that a substantial bid comes in for him this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Mateta is being actively watched by Serie A giants Napoli, who could be looking for a new striker this summer.

He is a player Napoli is familiar with, having tracked him while he was at his old club Mainz before signing Victor Osimhen.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via CalcioNapoli), Mateta is once again in the sights of Napoli.

Palace is said to have made ‘a farewell pledge’ to Mateta, promising to sell him if a substantial bid comes in the summer.

Mateta has been a regular at Crystal Palace this season, and his confidence has been greatly helped by the appointment of Oliver Glasner as manager.

The striker has six goals in his previous five league appearances for Crystal Palace, including braces against West Ham and Newcastle United.

Given Mateta’s current form, Palace may be reluctant to transfer him, despite claims of a guarantee made to the 26-year-old.
