Report: UNC basketball agree deal to sign 5 star forward in a blockbuster trade

UNC basketball program extends an offer to one of Virginia’s finest talents.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball team have been extremely active in extending scholarship offers during the last few days. The North Carolina basketball program’s interest in five-star forward Nate Ament is not new.

In fact, the Tar Heels coaching staff has been keeping an eye on the Warrenton, Virginia native for several months.Hubert Davis attended the John Wall Invitational in December to scout Ament, and the Tar Heels had three coaches (including Davis) on hand during this weekend’s action in Texas during the open recruitment season.

Only a few days after hearing him play live, the Tar Heels have officially presented an offer to him.

Ament announced his offer from the UNC basketball program on social media, making him the fifth player from the Class of 2025 to earn an offer from the Tar Heels in the last 48 hours. Although the Tar Heels issued many offers this week, Ament appears to be a guy who the coaching staff wants to prioritize.

According to the most recent 247Sports Composite rankings, Ament is the best player from Virginia. He is now ranked 18th in the national rankings, but he has the ability to advance up the list, possibly closer (if not within) the top ten at some point before his recruitment ends.”Ament, who is 6-foot-8, rose to national prominence throughout the spring and summer of 2023 while playing for Team Loaded NC. While he is still on the thin side, Ament is a mobile and skillful striker with the ability and ball skills to play on the wing, where he possesses tremendous size. Alternatively, he may be used as a small ball four man, opening up defenses and drawing opposing bigs away from the basket with his ability to shoot from distance. Ament has a lot of projectable promise due to his overall size, athleticism, and frame, which he can easily develop in the future. While he is not yet a finished product,

Multiple ACC teams are participating, including Virginia, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, and Virginia Tech, indicating that the UNC basketball program will have a difficult recruitment struggle. However, Ament would be an excellent match in Hubert Davis’ system, as he possesses the skillset to excel in the “stretch four” role that has become so important to the UNC basketball program’s success.
