Report: Rangers close to bring back rookie QB in a blockbuster trade

In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Panthers, NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier exhort the New York Rangers to bring back ONE important player.
Many NHL icons have been urging the New York Rangers to start one important youngster again on Friday night.

Madison Square Garden will host the Blueshirts for a pivotal Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals in front of their home fans. Following this game, the series returns to Sunrise, Florida, the home of the Florida Panthers, their rivals in the Finals.

Rangers greats Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, and Hendrik Lundqvist are pleading with head coach Peter Laviolette to reinstate rookie

On Wednesday night, ESPN analyst Messier stated, “Perhaps they ought to consider starting Rempe in the lineup.”

Laviolette ostensibly concurred, as Rempe was included in the starting lineup for the pregame warm-ups on Friday in Manhattan.
Both Gretzky and Lundqvist, who are on the panel for TNT’s sports coverage, argued in favor of his comeback, pointing out that he may have an impact against the physically strong Panthers side.

This past winter, Rempe, who came to the team from the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack, was amazed that legends of his team were clamoring for him to play.

It’s astounding. Legendary are those people. It’s really damn cool to be talked about by them, he said. “I want to take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way.” I wish to disappoint no one.

“I’m 21,” he continued. I’m not under any pressure. All I want to do is max out. I can look in the mirror and say, “I’m proud of myself,” if I know that I’ve given it my all at work.

However, Laviolette did not waver in his belief that the coach will be the ultimate judge of who gets in and who gets out.
